Mess with ONE, Mess with EVERYONE (OAB-SP)

I was at home, because of a cold, which kept me from going to the office to work, not because of me, but because of the others. It is just that, nowadays, if we sneeze at work, everyone looks at you as if you were a criminal or a terrorist who is going to kill colleagues through the contagion of an alien virus.

In the old days, we went to work sick or not, even dying, but we went.

Now, since we have become a rich country and a rich society, we can allow ourselves these petty-bourgeois luxuries. So, I am here enjoying this right that we think we have conquered.

There are people who even delay death in order to enjoy the rights they attribute to themselves. Leave it to others? Negative, I spend it on myself. I remember a Spanish friend of my parents, Adolfo, a root communist, card-carrying, one of those who spray-painted walls at night with propaganda for forbidden parties, and had even been arrested in Getúlio’s time.

Adolfo was at death’s door, in the hospital of the Spanish Beneficence of Rio, but, upon learning that the Spanish government had created a program for emigrants into which he fit, with the right to go to Spain for a certain time, he got better and went to enjoy the “right”. Only then, upon returning, did he resume the problems and then died.

Not even Freud explains it. Or he does and I do not know, but I understand. It is human nature. Most people do not want to divide nor leave anything with others or for others, only from the mouth outward. Those who speak and say the most are the ones who least profess what they speak and say. The cause? Well, the “cause”!

So, taking advantage of the time allowed by being at home, idle, I was looking at e-mails received in 2023 and not read, some sent by people who usually select what they send and are worth looking at. What was my surprise when I came across the link:

It is the recording of an episode that occurred during an OAB-SP event on Jul 12 or 13, 2023, whose title, it seems to me, was “Climate Change”, in which a lawyer named Pinheiro, with the position of “Secretary of Climate Change of the Municipal Government of São Paulo”, begins a “speechifying”, in my view coherent, but whose outcome it was still not possible to know, and is abruptly interrupted by another lawyer, at the coordinating table of the lecture, who, instead of interrupting him because he exceeded the time assigned to him (although she alludes to this), goes after the until-then speaker, verbally attacking him.

Certainly there “was more to it”, or old political divergences, unrequited love, intrigues, who knows, but it is not possible that the woman would go after him in such a forceful way without there being other reasons. The woman freaked out... with or without reason, but visibly without arguments.

She only kept shouting and repeating the sentence:

__are you denying climate change? you are an idiot and take this blah-blah-blah, in a tone that neither asked nor affirmed. In that she was smart.

Had the speaker been a woman, this would not have stayed like this.

I remembered that Clodovil Hernandez, when he was a federal deputy for SP, during an interview, also filmed, in the corridors of the National Congress, in Brasília, after asking about eight times, politely, a female deputy beside him, who had the habit of talking to people while poking them, not to poke him during the interview, lost his patience and called her “ugly”. And, when confronted, completed: “you are not even fit to be a whore”.

The matter became a problem of State. It was considered high-degree machismo and, because of that, Clodovil died with the label of macho.

For this reason, although belatedly, but since no one else complained, including the OAB (what a thing), I call upon the male colleagues to close ranks in defense of our gender, above everything and everyone, and above “todes”. Otherwise we become punching bags.

Finally, another great surprise was to learn that the PMSP has a “Secretariat of Climate Change”. By the way, how many secretariats does the PMSP have? If SP cleaned up the Tamanduateí stream, that would already be a feat, but no, the São Paulo mayor wants to solve the world’s climate problems. He will end up mayor of Itu...
