At least 50.02%(?) of women, 15.92%(?) of Afro-descendants, 9.15%(?) of homosexuals, 26.8% of Christians and a maximum of 49.5%, at least 7, 5% of people with mobility, seeing or hearing difficulties, in universities, companies, company departments and public offices.
Random numbers, mocking the precisions used out there, because these would be the percentages in the demographic census. Does a black, dyke, Catholic woman in a company meet the three criteria and is the company in compliance with the law or does it consider itself overlapping? Can the opposite be legislated? For example. Whites only up to 30%? Or would it be a “reverse prejudice”? And if homosexuality is equally distributed across the 5 continents across races, ethnicities, and religions, wouldn't they already be equally represented?
Among others, the subject of “quotas” has become a taboo, due to the lack of dialogue and argumentation, which ends up transforming the topic into a matter of faith. It's not today, it's not because of skin color or hair type, or gender. People take offense instead of arguing, which makes the discussion complicated. Exemplify with exceptions. However, wouldn't the exceptions be to “confirm the rules”?
Often, those who do not have solid arguments resort to “sealing” the other, “bullying”, trying to ridicule them. These are the methods they have left.
And there are not just minimum quotas. There are also maximums.
Regarding the subject, I remember a story I heard from Vasquez: he, then around 45 years old, had just been accepted into the membership of the ICRJ (Iate Clube Rio de Janeiro). It was around 1984. He was enjoying his first day as a member when, upon entering the club, he came across a colleague with Levi, about 10 years older, an engineer and working in the same company, they knew each other well. Levi, a friendly, big and outgoing guy, immediately hugged Vasquez and welcomed him to the club of which he had been a member since he was a child.
_ I'll show you the club, today you're my guest.
And there he went, with an arm on Vasquez's shoulder, dragging him through the boat garages, workshops, carpentry shop, bathrooms, changing rooms, sauna, card room, billiards room, bar, restaurant, radio room, navigation classrooms. , board, barber, whatever.
As Levi, at the time, was part of the board, he knew the numbers by heart:
_ We have 3,000 titles, but only about 2,500 assets. Another 500 are a rotation of dead, dying, bankrupt or have given up on sailing. In short, 500 inactive because, between a partner dying and someone buying the title, it takes a while and statistically we have this quota of around 500 partners who, for some reason, stopped paying. For the treasury and the administration, it’s the same.
And, to Vasquez's astonishment, he continued:
_Of the remaining 2,500, we have 60 to 70% men and 40 to 30% women. Laughing maliciously, he concluded: the club accepts the self-declaration and does not investigate further, otherwise the numbers would be different... And he concluded: of this general total, at most 10 to 15% are Jews like me.
Vasquez, who had never heard of such a restriction, half surprised, half stopped, said:
_ I didn't see that part in the statutes, which I was forced to read and know, before being questioned in the entrance exam...
And Levi:
_ It's not there but it's the practice. We Jews ourselves take care not to have any more. Have you thought? More than 15% Jews would be very boring. No one could take it... And laugh out loud.
Vasquez thought, thought, and asked:
_ By religion or ethnicity?
And Levi:
_ For both. Open this here to Japanese, Chinese or American, whatever religion it is. It's going to be like Itanhangá (Rio's golf club) which has so many Japanese and Nisei that it started to bother them. We have to limit the entry of Americans, Germans, French, Spanish, Gauchos, Minas Gerais and Bahians. São Paulo and Argentineans, maximum 1%.And only those from São Paulo and Argentina. And laugh...
Vasquez then suggested:
_ For Jewish women there could be a greater tolerance.... maybe double, around 30 to 40%
And Levi, stopping laughing and shortening the conversation:
_ This is our Brazil, man, they want to invent ghettos for us. Intellectual bullshit. Joãozinho Trinta is right. These guys are going to ruin the good and best that we still have. They will still create enmities between us Brazilians and ruin the country.
Prophetic, Levi and Joãozinho.
