These stories were told to me by the excellent engineer Fernando Penna Botafogo Gonçalves, a great friend and delightful person, who worked with Engineer Enaldo Cravo Peixoto for many years:

Enaldo was walking along Avenida Rio Branco (the main thoroughfare in downtown Rio de Janeiro) around 1970, accompanied by Engineer Ataulfo dos Santos Coutinho. Both were founders of ABES and very well-known outside the technical field as well (Enaldo was president of SUNAB, and Ataulfo was director of BNH).
Enaldo, short in stature, had a not very loud, higher-pitched voice.
Ataulfo, who was taller, spoke loudly and with a deep voice and was telling Enaldo something.
Every now and then, Enaldo would speak as loudly as he could:
_ And what did he say?
_ And what did he say?
_ And what did he say?
By about the fifth time, Ataulfo asked:
_ What’s going on? Why do you keep saying, “And what did he say”?
And Enaldo:
_ It’s just that when a person we know passes by, and you’re yelling, it sounds like I’m getting scolded by you, so I have to say something...
02:
Around 1964, Enaldo was the Secretary of Public Works for the Carlos Lacerda government.
One day, at the Palácio Guanabara, as they were getting into the official car to take Enaldo and his “entourage” (*1) to visit the Guandú works, the driver, trying to be polite, asked:
_ Would you like to go by Av. Brasil or through Guaratiba?
And Enaldo:
_ You decide, so I can criticize it.
(*1) It was said by the gossipers that Enaldo only traveled with an entourage.
